Annual Convenings
Wildfire Resilience Funders (WRF) hosts an annual convening in a different community each spring. Our annual convenings are focused on showcasing how different regions experience and build partnerships for wildfire resilience.
Attendees can expect to learn from local funders, community organizations, academics, local, regional, and state government officials, and fire agencies through a mixture of panel discussions and on-the-ground site visits.
WRF annual convenings are open to any grantmaking organization that qualifies for either funder membership or as a funder affiliate. We welcome those from current member organizations or those new to the network.
Upcoming Convening
Wildfire Resilience Funders will return to Northern California the week of April 26th, 2027.
Funder attendees (including WRF Funder Members and Funder Affiliates) can expect hands-on learning, connection, and site visits as we revisit communities impacted by wildfires in the North Bay in 2017. The convening will explore what has changed in a region where wildfire risk has become a major consideration in everyday live.
More details on location, agenda, and speakers will be announced soon!
Past Convenings
The 2020 Labor Day Fires reshaped Oregon’s relationship with wildfire, setting in motion ambitious state-level transformations in wildfire policy, WUI management, and community resilience across the Rogue Valley and beyond. The 2026 convening allowed funders to see that transformation firsthand: what communities have built from the wreckage, and what the next phase of mitigation, partnership, and funding needs to look like.

The third annual convening brought together more than 40 representatives from member organizations and leading issue experts. Some in attendance were old friends, others had never met in person, and a few were new to the network. The meeting was a great way for members to build relationships, while learning from issue experts and exploring shared strategic interests.

The messages from our speakers were clear: incredibly thoughtful work is happening by folks on the ground to protect communities, and even more could be done with expanded capacity. Sharing space as we reflected on the water and wildfire nexus and community resilience lifted up all kinds of new considerations in thinking about the work holistically.

The first official in-person convening was graced by the contributions of a strong cohort of local and regional experts who provided context that grounded discussions in place and reflected the focus and interests of network members. The convening explored the challenges and opportunities posed by wildfire to communities and natural landscapes across the western U.S., and sought to develop a understanding of the network’s philanthropic goals and strategies.
