How to Engage

WRF is the only curated space dedicated to mobilizing funders focused on the complex issues linked to wildfire and climate change. Since its founding in 2023, the network has grown to include more than 140 member and affiliate organizations. WRF fosters participation beyond philanthropy through the active inclusion of experts and organizations working on the front lines of the wildfire crisis. Our programs are designed to facilitate connection across these sectors, enabling stronger connections between and among philanthropy, researchers, agencies, and nonprofits.

Network participation is available to philanthropic funders as Funder Members or Funder Affiliates, while non-grantmaking organizations can participate in some network programming as Practitioner Affiliates. WRF Membership Tiers

  • Funder Members

Open to funders who engage in significant wildfire or wildfire-related grantmaking.  Funding intermediaries may be eligible if they have control of their wildfire-related grantmaking strategies and leverage grantmaking as their primary activity. Members pay annual dues to help sustain the network and gain access to member-only content, opportunities, and events.

  • Funder Affiliates

Open to funders who engage in wildfire-related grantmaking or who seek to develop wildfire alignment across their broader climate, conservation, or community-focused portfolios. Funding intermediaries may be eligible for funder affiliate membership if they have significant control of their wildfire-related grantmaking.

Practitioner Affiliates

Open to organizations that are interested in wildfire resilience or support wildlife resilience efforts, but do not engage in grantmaking as a significant activity.

Network Meetings & Mailings

Member Activities & Events

Funder Members can participate in an array of activities including the annual in-person convening at a reduced rate, wildfire working groups—developed and led by peers to collaborate on shared interests—and member-only meetings, which delve more deeply into matters of concern to funders and often focus on strategy development. There may also be additional meetings that open to both Funder Members and Funder Affiliates. Funder Affiliates may have the opportunity to engage upon invitation or with an additional fee.

Member Portal & Wildfire Funder Directory

Wildfire Working Groups

Wildfire Working Groups are curated spaces where funders learn and connect with each other and experts across a variety of longstanding issues of interest or in specific geographies amongst the network. Our working groups are a flexible house for shared learning, ideas, collaboration, convening, and connection. These groups may meet regularly, or on an as needed basis throughout the year.
