Colorado Wildfire Philanthropy Roundtable
In recent years, Colorado has experienced a significant increase in wildfires affecting landscapes and communities. Philanthropy is investing across the wildfire continuum, from forest health and preparedness to disaster response and long-term recovery, yet funders have had few opportunities to come together, understand the broader funding landscape, and explore where greater alignment could strengthen existing efforts.
Wildfire Resilience Funders network and Philanthropy Colorado are convening a virtual Colorado Wildfire Funders Roundtable on November 12 from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. MT.
Colorado funders, including the Argosy Foundation, Mighty Arrow Family Foundation, and Gates Family Foundation, along with community foundations that have directly supported response and recovery work, will share how they approach wildfire funding and what they are learning. The roundtable is open to funders working on wildfire through disaster preparedness and response, long term recovery, forest health and stewardship, Indigenous and cultural fire, policy and advocacy, technology, watershed health, research and science, and cross sector collaboration.
This learning and working session will provide national and Colorado context on trends in wildfire philanthropy and create space for funders to:
- Learn about national trends and emerging approaches in wildfire funding
- Share their current funding strategies, partners, and areas of interest in Colorado
- Build a stronger picture of the philanthropic activity already underway across the state
- Surface opportunities for funders to learn from and support one another
- Begin identifying areas where greater alignment could strengthen existing efforts
Participants will use a collaborative mapping technology to begin developing a shared landscape of wildfire funding across Colorado.
